January Favorites 2018

The awesome thing about starting this blog right at the beginning of 2018 is how nice and orderly I can do things- in December of 2018 I’ll be able to look back at 12 months of favorites in the year 2018 ❤ Of course I may be cheating a little bit because some of these products listed probably weren’t released this month, but things I first noticed, or things that the beauty community is just noticing in 2018. Here is my very first list of beauty favorites of 2018.

The Ordinary, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% High-Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula

This was one of the first things I bought from Sephora in 2018. And although this came from a high-end store, the price was basically drugstore, maybe even cheaper than what I see for skincare at the drugstore- but the quality is amazing! I was worried it was going to be drying, but it wasn’t at all. It’s kind of like a serum that’s great for oily skin. Almost immediately after I started using it I noticed a significant decrease in breakouts, and my makeup would last throughout the day without turning slick and greasy in my T zone. I can’t wait to see what else this brand has to offer, because this may be the best product for blemishes I have ever tried- and for such a great price too.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in “Uncensored”

First of all, gorgeous packaging. Second of all, gorgeous color. Third of all, gorgeous finish. This is the absolute perfect red- not pinky red, orangey red, purpley red- just red. I think this will look so pretty with Valentine’s day looks for February, and I love the way the product just glides on the lips with beautifully smooth and opaque color.

L’Oreal Collagen Moisture Filler

I have no idea when this came out but I grabbed it at Walmart when I needed a moisturizer and I’m glad I did. If you’re not into thick creams, this may not be for you, but I was always a huge fan of the PONDS Cold Cream, and this reminds me a lot of that but with an even better texture. Living in Connecticut we have a rough cold winter, and this gives me a great amount of moisture without making me feel greasy or clogging my pores. When I put it on at night, my skin feels so incredibly soft in the morning- I love this moisturizer.

RK Never Touch Up Matte Finish Powder Foundation

I wrote about this in my blog post about RK by Kiss’s collection at CVS. I’ve been using it all month and I can honestly say you can use this to set everything. It definitely doesn’t make me think of a powder foundation because it’s not at all thick and from what I remember the shade range is pretty minimal. It just works like a perfectly smooth pressed powder you can use to set under your eyes or even your whole face- it’s very lightweight.

CVS Hand and Face Wipes

This is a weird one but since it was a bargain find I had to write about it. I got this for $1 at CVS and it comes with 25 pre-moistened cloths. It works excellent for removing my makeup, even if I don’t use coconut oil to lift it off my face first. When I’m feeling lazy and just wanna wipe everything off, these get the job done for just $1 at the drugstore.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Another product from The Ordinary! Once again this was a great price and I’ve used it several times under my foundation. It feels like angels rubbing their buttcheeks on your face when you put it on- and then your makeup applies beautifully on top and stays there! This will probably be going down in history with my favorite primers ever.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Deep Smoothing Mask

This is a mask for your hair and from the moment of application I could tell I loved it. It feels the way The Ordinary primer did on my face except on my hair, if that makes any sense. Immediately my hair felt smoother, softer, and was delicately perfumed. It dried perfectly soft and detangled after I got out of the shower, and didn’t frizz up a bit. This is a great product to use on your hair especially if you’re enduring a cold New England winter.
