Since the office I work at on my college campus is closed weekends, I have Saturday and Sunday mornings off before I go into work at the restaurant. This is really the only free time I have during the week, so I like to spend it on my face since I completely suck at a daily skincare routine and it starts to show by the weekend. I thought I would share a weekly skincare routine in case there’s anyone who isn’t quite sure where to start in making a once-a-week facial into a habit.
Ideally, I would recommend a mask twice a week but since I suck at time management I usually only do one once a week. This particular weekend I developed a lot of painful breakouts that were just hanging out under my skin (thank you PMS) so I decided to use the RK by Kiss Charcoal Peel-Off Mask. This mask works really well at pulling the impurities and sebum from your pores, so it brought a lot of those sore pimples to the surface. It also pulls out the blackheads from your T zone which is really cool to look at once you peel it off. There’s all different types of masks that serve different purposes and benefit different skin types, but thats for another future blog post.
While this dries on my face I like to enjoy some wine and my Lord and Savior, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
After I removed the mask I rinsed my face and made sure it was COMPLETELY dry before I shaved with a straight razor (I already have a post up about face shaving- go dig for it and check it out <3) and since my eyebrows were hella jank I shaved and shaped those while I was at it.
My pores were still looking a little clogged in some areas so I’ve been doing this “hack” recently that I’ve seen floating around where you scrub with toothpaste and baking soda. So far I really like it and it works really well for clearing out my pores as well as shrinking them.
Here’s my little toothpaste and baking soda mixture. If you are going to try this make sure you rinse immediately after you’re done scrubbing rather than let it sit.
Next, I applied this High Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula by The Ordinary directly to my breakouts. I absolutely love this stuff for getting rid of annoying pimples (especially since I have a terrible habit of popping and picking that I can’t seem to shake.)
The last thing I put on my face is this new oil I’ve been loving by a brand called Mon Amie. Its an Aloe + Hyaluronic Face Serum. I don’t really use it on the daily or with makeup since it’s a little on the greasy side and I have oily skin, but I like to apply it to my lips before bed to give them a little overnight plumping, and I used it under my mom’s makeup because she has mature skin.
I can’t forget about my lips so I used this lip scrub that I got from Walmart that is my ABSOLUTE NEW FAVORITE. It’s the Eclipse Lip Scrub in Vanilla Bean and its so yummy, so exfoliating, and so moisturizing. I can’t get enough of it.
And last but not least I apply my Milani Keep It Smooth Luxe Lip Treatment onto my lips for some extra moisture. My skin feels so soft and conditioned after this routine and overall it’s a great way to relax.

Even with a consistent daily routine so many things you interact with throughout the week can really wreak havoc on the delicate skin of your face, not to mention the stress hormones your body produces during your busy school/work day will also make your skin need a special deep clean & care. Remember it’s not just about looking good- it’s about feeling good and taking care of your body. Your skin is a very important organ and is the most hardworking, protective bodyguard you’ll probably ever know, so show it some love ❤
